Rowan O'Cleary
Born far enough down on the bloodline to the throne that no one much bothered to do more than test him when he came of age and find him lacking, Rowan has been left mostly to his own devices. What the testers failed to pick up on and he failed to tell them was that the magic they'd thought he'd lacked had just shown up in a way not usually seen in his family. Then again, they were going by the patriarchal line and not the matriarchal. He'd gained the ability to heal from his mother's side, and he hid that from the fae he encountered as healers were coveted and kept in gilded cages to be brought out for special pets and... questioning sessions. While he was plenty hardy himself, he didn't think he'd survive having to constantly put together the broken bodies the darker of his kind would drop at his feet. So he took to the human world and took human courses, and became a human doctor- moving every few decades and letting his glamour he had make that transition a little easier. On a rare occasion, his abilities forced him to use them on bodies that wound up under his care, particularly if they'd been brought there with marks of his kind on them. But so far, he'd not been found out. So far... Yet that was a possibility that hung over him always.
personality
+
Genuinely likes humans. Loyal. Protective of those he feels of as 'his'. Capable of thinking outside the box. Friendly. Has a different concept of personal space/touch. Can't lie. A promise is a vow.

Can seem a little odd/alien at times. Has a different concept of time in relation to current events. Has a different concept of personal space/touch (this can be good and bad). Sometimes forgets what decade/century he's in. Can be secretive. Can be dismissive of humans, even though he knows better.
🔥
Has to remind himself that the invitations of the fae are not the invitations of the humans, no matter how many inadvertent signals they give out. Has to be careful if mating with humans, since they're relatively more fragile then his own kind. Prefers casual sex as anything more leads to emotional ties he knows he'll have to break at some point. Likes a little pain (biting, spanking, scratching, marking).
appearance
Born in Underhill almost 400 years ago, Rowan has a heavy dose of Ireland in his voice as it's the country most strongly tied to his homeland at the time of his birth. He's built like a runner, long and lean. There's often a smile playing around the corner of his lips and with his genial nature, Rowan has made himself into someone that is easy to come to, to talk to about the worst thing happening in their lives in that moment so that he might have a chance to fix it. He likes to keep his hands busy, so he's usually fiddling with a pen or a silver coin, the latter with whatever was printed on the sides of it having been worn off over the years of fingers running over it.
abilities
background
There have always been fairytales, and it's not until a child reaches a certain age that they stop believing in the possibility of meeting one. But fairy rings still grow in playgrounds and forests and children still go missing, snatched up- not by a bear or mountain cat, but by a fae. There are fairy mounds that have doorways to and from fairyland, and not all fae choose to live within. Some are among humans, living with them, working with them, breeding with them. Some fae prey on them and some protect, a dance that's gone on for as long as humans first came to be. There are royal houses with royal lines, but the further down the line one goes, the less concern for their survival there is. Rowan is, by his last count, fourteenth in line to the Winter Court, and he's quite happy to let those closer to it fight among themselves as to who gets to next wear the crown when the reigning royals choose to Fade. He's spent the last two hundred years among the mortals, and he's found himself a calling that is in his nature as it is in his blood. Healing.
Every few decades, he packs up and moves to a new location, to a new place that needs him. Maybe one day, he'll be able to settle down, but that would take the world knowing about what lay behind a magical doorway, and he wasn't sure the humans would ever be ready for that. Nor, to be frank, would the fae. Too long used to ruling and being master, he doubted they'd take kindly to human politics.
